Director of Social Services

Director of social services - Derrick wood

Derrick Wood serves as our Director of Social Services. He is a native of Spartanburg, SC and was educated in the school system of Spartanburg District.  Following graduation from high school, Derrick attended Lander University where he was extensively involved in campus activities and leadership and graduated with a BS degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Management.  Derrick continued with his education and achieved a Master's of Arts in Management and Leadership.

 Derrick has worked in fast food management, disabilities and special needs where he was an advocate for abuse prevention and most recently was employed with the SC Department of Social Services in Child Welfare.  

 Derrick is married to Tiesha Brown Wood and they will celebrate 11 years of marriage in May of 2023.  Derrick and Tiesha are the Senior Servant Leaders of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Cowpens, where they have been pastoring since 2020.  Derrick has a love for the people of God and desires that all would be saved.  His most treasured scripture is Psalms 27.  

With his ministerial, social work, and educational background and experience, as well as his sincere passion for children, youth and families, we are truly blessed and honored to have Derrick as part of our leadership team here at the SC COG Home for Children.

Off-Campus Licensing Coordinator

OFF-CAMPUS LICENSING COORDINATOR - SHEL’SEE WILSON

Shel’see Wilson serves as our Off-campus Licensing Coordinator. She earned her degree in Human Services and had the privilege of completing her internship at the South Carolina Church of God Home for Children and the Southeastern Children’s Home in 2025. Shel’see is a proud mother of three, ages 10 and twins who are 9. She was born and raised in Greenwood, South Carolina, however she now calls Greenville home. She brings fresh ideas, creativity, and inspiration to the foster care community. Her hope is to make a positive impact by supporting foster families and helping provide safe, and loving homes for children.

Administrative Assistant

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - DENISE SEYMORE

Denise Seymore serves on our team as our Administrative Assistant.   She grew up in Church of God parsonages and has been a member of Columbia Road COG in Orangeburg where she enjoyed singing in the choir, praise team, teaching and attending Sunday School, and even directing VBS.

Denise graduated from Southern Wesleyan University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and most recently has served as Administrative Assistant in a Presbyterian Church for the last 37 years.  Prior to that, she was an office manager in Belk Hudson.  Her time in a church office was a unique experience for which she is grateful.  It was a true blessing to work in that atmosphere every day and taught her a lot of life lessons.   She enjoys reading and staying in touch with family and friends.

With her educational and experiential background and her genuine love and dedication to the Lord as well as to others, Denise is a tremendous asset to the ministries of the SC Home for Children.

Care Coordinator

CARE COORINATOR - CAROL HARDEE

Carol Hardee serves as our Care Coordinator. She works with our volunteers in coordinating schedules. She has her Exhorter License and has served on the Girls Ministries Board and Women’s Ministries Board.  She works alongside her husband serving as Women’s Ministries Liaison and Public Relations Director.

We are blessed with and thankful for a wonderful team of caring Parents who daily pour into and invest in the lives of our children. We have cottage style living on Campus and each dwelling enjoys a homelike and loving atmosphere, where normal activities occur each day.
